Shuboxlover 479 #1 Posted February 19, 2010 Can I use the PTO to Deck belt# 102742 from my WorkHorse on my C-160? I can't find ANYWHERE on the Toro MPV'er that shows what belt I would need to use?
TT-(Moderator) 1,158 #2 Posted February 19, 2010 The drive belts and tensioners are listed with the decks, not the tractors.
Shuboxlover 479 #3 Posted February 19, 2010 does the belt change depending on the year of deck you use??? Say I use a 1991 RD deck on my 1976 C-160. How about if it's a side or rear discharge deck...does it change then too? I look up 61-16KS02 then went to view attachments, selected the 42" SD deck and no deck drive belt is shown....just the one that drives the blades....unless I;m missing something
TT-(Moderator) 1,158 #4 Posted February 19, 2010 There are far too many variables to answer your questions with 100% correct answers. I will tell you that 42" SD and RD decks use different drive belts and that the IPL's generally show the drive belt on the same plate as the front tensioner. Shuboxlover 479 #6 Posted February 20, 2010 Has anybody used a 42" RD deck from 1991 model# 1542RC02 on their C-160??? If you did, what belt# did you use??? If you haven't, how would I figure out which belt I would need??? I don't want to think about this d*** winter anymore, so I am going to play with mower decks for a little bit. TT-(Moderator) 1,158 #7 Posted February 20, 2010 One more time......... LINK to IPL #41 is the deck drive belt. It looks like P/N 108834.
Shuboxlover 479 #8 Posted February 20, 2010 sorry TT....i didn't see that link the first time One qestion that I have though....did Wheel Horse try, no matter what engine you had (briggs, kohler, or onan in whatever hp) always put the PTO pulley the same distance back from the mule drive? I hope you can understand what I am asking.
TT-(Moderator) 1,158 #9 Posted February 20, 2010 The second link is for the deck you posted the numbers for - which really helps in this type of situation. The position of the centerline of the crankshaft is relatively similar. Where you will find the biggest difference is between the single and twin cylinder engines on some models. The adjustment range of the tensioner for the deck belt is pretty forgiving - but might not be enough in some cases.
Shuboxlover 479 #10 Posted February 20, 2010 Am I correct on this.... The belt I have for my GT1642 is 103" long The belt you reference for the 42" RD is 98" long So if I mount the 42"RD on the C-160 and put the belt on from my 1642, it should be roughly 5" longer (actually 2 1/2" longer because it will loop back.) I just don't want to order a belt and find out it's the wrong one.
JimD 3,347 #11 Posted February 20, 2010 for the deck belt, take a piece of twine or string of some sort, and with your belt tensioner in about the mid position, tie the string around the pulleys. then take the string and have it measured at your local supplier. this will give you an approximate size for your belt. with the amount of adjustment you have left, that size or maybe 1" smaller should work fine. TT-(Moderator) 1,158 #12 Posted February 20, 2010 The deck drive belt for a 42/48" SD deck on a C/300/400/500 is longer than the drive belt for a 42" RD deck on the same tractor models. This has nothing to do with the tractor, but rather the design of the deck itself. A RD deck's blades are arranged in more of a "V" formation than those of a SD deck - resulting in the center spindle/pulley being closer to the front of the tractor. If you are going to use the 42 RD deck on the C-160, buy the 108834 belt (or equivalent) and it will work. I used a 1991-ish 42" RD on my 416-H early last season and bought a Gates 6898 (which is what the Toro 108834 crosses to) belt from the local Carquest store. Tankman 3,523 #14 Posted July 26, 2012 Parts Tree did have the two belts listed for my 5-1010 42" read discharge deck. Thanks. Parts Tree, while I was at it, l looked up the 1-4065 engine to tranny drive belt. Confusing. Any idea of the belt size I need, while I have the deck off, for the engine to tranny belt? I belive P/N 14-01 from Wheel Horse.
