Broken Snow blower

Recommended Posts

lae51967

Well 2nd time out with the blower and it threw the chain. B) My best guess is the chain got too much slack and jumped a sprocket then got caught by the auger which yanked the chain off the other sprockets, bending at least one in the process and then jambed between the auger and housing which stopped the auger dead and snapped the new belt I just put on it. :hbd::party:

Snow wasn't deep, should have just used the blade. Oh well another lesson learned.

Just wondering, Do you have one or two idler sprockets on your blower?

mine has 2 idler sprockets, 1 is movable as a tensioner. ( kind of has 1 1/2 right now B) ) lucked out and just won 2 sprockets on ebay. anyone know the chain size used, have not had time to take it apart yet. I bet the auger will be a pain to free up. looks like it bent the bejeebers out of the auger where it caught, that will take awhile to straighten out.

I think it's a #41. I just got a new sprocket for mine which was for a #40 chain and it din't mesh right. Exchanging it for a #41 sprocket. Will let you know which worked better.

B) W9JAB having all the different threads in one place is handy. Good to know there are some options depending on whats broke
