tec governor 654 wheel horse

Recommended Posts

dandan111

I have been bending wire off and on 3 different

times now for the governor.

My carb only has 1 hole for the throttle /governor

hook up. If I run the rod from the governor to

the throttle hole on carb, then run my spring

to the governor would this work? This is not

like the other set ups I have seen.

Bending wire for this thing is a pain,it also has

a little nub on top of the carb just below the

throttle hole that is driving be crazy.

Do any of you guys have a carb like this?

These are about the best pictures I have of the Tecumseh linkage:

These pictures are on a 502, but the H60 on my Lawn Ranger was the same. I dont have a 654 to compare it to, but I assume it was the same as these.

You can actually buy a tool for bending the wire. I think its called a "z bender". I just use a piece of steel 3/16 thick, with a hole drilled in it to suit the wire. Poke the wire through it, twist the piece of steel 90 degrees and then on to the next bend. You have to be careful which side of the bend to have the steel on, if you get the piece of steel on the wrong side of the bend, you cant get it off again! B)

Hello,

Hobby shops sell a pair of Z bend pliers for making the ends of the cables.

Thanks,

Jim

Yes I have about 3 holes in the bracket on the carb...the spring is in there just look real close you can see it, but it blends in so its hard to see...

Guys any tractors older than 1964 have a completely different setup

Heres a better pic

That looks nice to me,mine is getting a patch

job for now. I think my carb is a older style and

I may be missing some stuff to make it right.

The way yours is set up is what I had in mind.

I will use what I have for now until I get it

running, still not sure if the motor is a good

one.

Cas's set-up is the same as the one I posted. TYou can see the bottom of the spring in the top left of this picture:

But it looks like what you want is the setup from Michael...

BTW There is only one hole in the carb linkage on my carbs too.

That does help, thanks.

Mine is missing stuff, the guys that

bought these tractors new would cry

if they seen the hack job done over

the years.

I think it will work the way I put it.

(not pretty)
