Daddysgirl 0 #1 Posted February 9, 2010 For those that helped me figure out what model my dad's tractor was so that I could surprise him with some parts...this is your update. You won't believe it. I bought a new throttle cable and knob and one of Glenn's FANTASTIC hood ornaments & key. I packaged it up and wrote a note to tell him that I love him and that this was for him because he does so much for everyone else and never gets anything in return. I kept waiting for him to call, because I knew he would just flip when he opened the box and saw the parts. But day after day followed without any word from him. I checked the tracking # and it said it was delivered January 30th. It is now the 8th and I was worried that he didn't get it after all. I found out tonight that the mailman left it on the deck and didn't knock on the door to deliver it. My dad later on that afternoon brought out some boxes to be burned in the burn barrel and I guess he dropped a couple. So he went back to pick them up and he picked up my box to and didn't realize it was just delivered. He burned it. I just found out a few minutes ago and I bawled like a big ole baby. I wanted so much for it to be a great surprise for him. He felt really bad about it...he was even crying and said that he loved the thought so much because he just doesn't get anything like that. So long story...a little longer.. those pictures that I promised to post once he gets the items installed will be delayed. I'm so bummed that the element of surprise is gone...but I'm going to try again. Thanks to everyone who helped me figure it all out and I'll get those pictures one way or another. DoctorHfuhruhurr 137 #4 Posted February 9, 2010 It's truly the thought that counts and all material things can be replaced. I'm sure you'll all have a good laugh about it some day.
Daddysgirl 0 #5 Posted February 9, 2010 Thanks..we were able to chuckle about it by the time we hung up. The mailmen don't have to get a signature unless the sender pays for that service. I guess I've learned my lesson and will require a signature next time. I just bought another throttle cable on ebay and I've contacted GlennJeri to buy a hood ornament and Key (hope he still has some)...I'm going to write on the package "Do not incinerate". rwilson 128 #7 Posted February 9, 2010 I have a similer story. Christmas day came in 08. mom and dad said that there was one more gift but they couldn't find it. after terring the house apart looking for it they told me what it was. it was a decal set for my c-120. well about a week later dad went to the burning barrel sturred the askes and saw one of the dash tower decals. Well only half of one. So they gave me the money to replace them but i put the money twards some other wheel horse things that i needed.

whfan74 2,071 #9 Posted February 9, 2010 So sorry to hear about your mishap. Sometimes these work out for the better. I am really glad you and your dad were able to have a laugh about it at the end of your phone call. This will make the restoration of this tractor much more special! linen beige 15 #18 Posted February 10, 2010 Man that bites. If you ship the replacements to him PUT A BRICK IN THE BOX! It may cost more to ship but he might be less apt to think it's empty.
Daddysgirl 0 #19 Posted February 10, 2010 Glen... ...you rock! Thanks guys..I bought another throttle cable on ebay and Glen is sending me the key and hood ornament! So I've recouped what we lost. I am still looking for a mower deck though and I am more than happy to pay for it and the shipping. I just need a decent one and I would like to get it before March. His birthday is March 5th. I also still need the shifter knob and generator light. If anyone has any leads on this I am ready to buy!!! Thanks everyone....love the idea about the brick too. He would get a kick out of that! 6wheeler 669 #20 Posted February 10, 2010 I am glad to hear you are getting the replacements . You know, its a funny thing about burning barrels. They eat everything you feed them . I was on a garage cleaning frenzy 2 weeks ago, boxes, papers, the whole works. Feeling pretty proud of myself for making it look so clean, I decided it was a good time to pull in my jeep and put in that carb kit and manual choke that I figured out how to order online . I couldn't find it. Looked everywhere, went down to (you know where), sure enough, in the ashes. At least I know how to order another one . Anyway, I will be able laugh about it, IF my wife lets me off the hook. GOOD LUCK Pat

I had a thought later about what he told me a few weeks ago. We was so proud of this burn barrel because he put holes all the way around the bottom few inces (side) and welded a grate to sit inside. He said it could burn a whole phone book and leave pratically nothing left. Quite efficent
stevasaurus 23,276 #22 Posted February 10, 2010 Kim...can't believe somebody hasn't come out with a deck offer yet. As far as what else has happened...when it is all together, it will be conversation for plenty of years. If things always went right...we wouldn't have any thing to talk about.
