where to buy rebuild kits

Recommended Posts

i have a engine laying here that the governor shaft broke on it. so i figure while i am in there new piston rings and rod might as well get replaced also. let me know very reasonable price wise and quality is always a plus.

it is a 8hp kohler k181

You can buy a kit through stens........and the stuff you get on e-bay is pieced together from stens anyway....some guys will tell you that no no no...buy it from kohler well to this i say thats fine...and kohler gaskets in my opionion are a better gasket...,but the pistons from stens and kohler are not made in the u.s.

this you can not get away from....apparantly its just the way it is.....

so with this being said any local dealer should be able to order your rebuild kit from stens for you.... B)

Try www.OPEEngines.com, I've always had good luck with them.

I had my k-181 rebuilt with an aftermarket stens kit that I bought off ebay, think the guy was out of Toledo, Ohio that sold them. Over 50 hours and no problems yet. Napa is also a source for kohler and aftermarket kohler parts. Al.
