linen beige 15 #27 Posted February 6, 2010 THE 1958 HAS ONE UP POSITION AND ONE DOWN POSITION ON THE LIFT LEVER . AND THE 1959 HAS A 1/2 MOON WITH NOTCHES IN IT TO PUT IN DIFFERENT HIEGHTS While it is true that SOME of the last '59s used the '60 style lift quadrant, I wouldn't use that as the sole basis for saying one is a '59. Those parts can be added to a '58 just as easily.
Hammerhead 817 #28 Posted February 6, 2010 Well this is a good subject for sure! The Pond's definetly used whatever they could, whenever they needed to. So alot of combinations can be had on these little cuties. That is one reason I like the 1963 Model#603 Specials! I have a peice of Wheel Horse literature somewhere, that has a huge list of factory conversion Kits that you could get to convert any old type of attachment or accesseries on the tractor, to the newer, more modern type of parts. Like the lift handles and sector quadrant lift parts. Different mower deck updates as well, ie. putting a 1963 mower deck on a 1964 tractor. It's good to know other collectors are serious about this type of stuff! Alot can be learned by everyone when we put our heads together on these matters!
