Let's see if we can help you with this one.

First, go to this link:

When you get there, enter 01-12K801 in the "Enter Model Search" box, then hit "Search".

This will take you to the links page for your tractor. Now click on the "View Assembly Drawings". This will take you to a list of drawing titles. Click on "Clutch, Brake And Speed Control Linkage." This will give you an exploded parts diagram for your machine.

You say you have a new clutch/brake spring, but the parts diagram shows these as separate springs (numbers 40 and 48). Which one do you have? If it's part number 48 in the picture, one end attaches to the little hole in part #18 (you can just barely see it in the diagram). The other end [i think - I only have worked on 300-series 8-speeds, so I'm not 100% sure of the set-up on the C-series) attaches to a cast flange on the top of the rear axle housing on the left side of the tractor. I've found it's a whole lot easier to replace this spring with the drive belt tensioner pulley off the tractor to give you maximum free travel (minimum spring stretch while putting it on). I'd make the connection to part #18 first then try for the axle housing hook-up.

If it's part #40 (brake spring), I'll have to look at the machine I've got torn down at home right now to figure out how to describe what's hooked to where.

Others with more experience may chime in here with a better way to do this, or may tell me I'm blowing smoke in my description! :banghead:

Brake return spring (#40) attached to the hole just below the teeth of the bellcrank assembly (#23) and the other end hooks in a notch at the bottom of the plate that spans the hood stand assembly (not shown in that diagram).
