420lse 18 #1 Posted January 31, 2010 Just a quick note of thanks to the Redsquare community. My success story is one of many I'm sure. My 655 sat for years and I discovered I needed a plow horse so, I dugg deep in the shed and out came the "655". I tried to start her to no avail. Had spark but the bowl stayed dry. I decided to rebuild the carb. This is what makes this site so awsome. I searched and found the Tecumseh manual which contained all the info on my carb. Picked up a rebuild kit at NAPA $12.00. And dove in. By the way, My first carb rebuild I put it all back togther, turned the key and she roared to life. I adjusted the main and idle as per the manual and was off and running. Now my 655 was lightly used when I happened upon her.The rear tires still have the rubber, after mold scraps between the treads and the fronts are really fresh too.Not too bad for 45 years old In case,if I decide to resto her, I thought the old shoes would come in handy, so, I figured I'd put some old 310 tires I had laying around on the rear, and an old set of era tires in the front. Adding weights seemed to make sence, so rear 70 pounders and front wheel weights were installed. Before Notice the UK seat cover. After "And That's All I Have To Say About That!" Ken B 3,189 #4 Posted January 31, 2010 Very nice 655. Its been mighty light in the snow pushin duties in CT. this season. Are you going too put chains on the rear tires? The 6-12's will push real good with chains. I had 6-12's with two link chains on my 604 and it was unstoppable.

420lse 18 #10 Posted January 31, 2010 Yea, not too much snow in CT. Pleanty of COLD though. I set up the snowblower and we don't seem to get more than a dusting. That's gave me a good reason to put a blade into action. The 655 sat a while cuz it never really ran right.(the carb). Other projects put it on the back burner. I was very surprised how simple the carb rebuild went. Thanks to good info! I was even more surprised when she fired right up. I just had my driveway repaved and thought I'd try weight in lou of chains. I might look into the rubber chains if needed, but I'm not sure how well they will work.
