sgtsampay 117 #1 Posted January 29, 2010 Hi all. As you all might know, there is a rare book that talks about Wheel horse tractors. I hear from others that its a great read and all, but I can't fine it anywhere. I have checked online and the libraries. My question is, does anyone know of a secret location to get one, or where I can download an online version. thanks. Bobby.

sgtsampay 117 #3 Posted January 29, 2010 Thanks for the link to ebay. I'm tring one last place around my area, and then I will just and wait for it to come online, I guess. $50 isn't that bad but I don't have the money right now! Ugg. Just a few more days and I will have it. LOL. O well, thanks for your help. I wish someone could just make a virtual copy for all of those who can get a copy of one.. Operator 7 #4 Posted January 29, 2010 You wouldn't want an "on-line" one anyway would you? The real thing looks better on the coffee table! They come around every once in awhile. Randy

Marv (NW Oh) I wish you hadnt said that.. I have been watching that auction all week.. now I definately wont win it.. This book has been discussed in two recent threads, in the last month or so.. Here is a quote (from me) from a few weeks ago, about this book: I too am looking for this book..I brought it up a week or so ago in another, older thread..what I found out: The Author recently sold off all his remaining copies on ebay, about 20 copies, in early December 2009. (only one month before I became aware of the books existence! isnt that always the way?
nylyon-(Admin) 7,880 #6 Posted January 29, 2010 As mentioned in the threads, Mike is a member here but I don't think he checks in too often. I know he had sold some books on eBay recently, and if I remember correctly, it was the last of the group. I have no idea if the second edition made it to Amazon, I suspect not. One note: Please don't scan the book or any portion and make it available without Mike's consent.

landsurveyor 2 #10 Posted January 29, 2010 If everyone wants a copy of this book (me included!) why dont they print more? surely if people will buy them they will make more money = good business sense! Is it just me? Living in the UK, my chance of getting one is zero - shame. Good luck with your search Simon
Kelly 1,033 #11 Posted January 29, 2010 Just be patient guys they come up more often than you think, and if everyone jumps at the same one the price goes up, I found one at a book store for $20 first printing, and bought a couple more off ebay for around $30 each, no I don't have any to sell, I sold my extras when everyone was paying way to much for them, and just so you all know both are about the same, first and second printing, the second has a few more pictures, but if you ask me the first was printed better, my new book is kinda cheap compaired to the old one. sgtsampay 117 #15 Posted January 30, 2010 LOL. You guys are great! LOL. Anyway, glad to see that i'm not the only one around here who wants that thing. I hope there is another printing of it or at least more 2nd edtions coming around. Yes, you guys are correct, I can't/wouldn't do any type of scanning without talking with the author first, since it copyrighted and I don't want to get in trouble. Well, I guess I will jsut to wait a little longer.. thanks again guys.

Sparky-(Admin) 23,147 #17 Posted January 30, 2010 Same here. I have both the first and second edition and have read them front to back a couple times but have never listened to the CD. Dont ask me why . Mike......
CasualObserver 3,411 #18 Posted January 30, 2010 I thought about not listening to it, but figured why the hell not? It's not like I'm going to sell the book. And even if I did... I've already opened the pages and been through it, no different than opening and listening to the CD! It's just a CD... Audio of Cecil Pond just reading the forward page of the book. I was hopeful that maybe it would be more of a multi-media disc and include some of the audio jingle radio ads from the old sales promo records, or maybe more pictures of print ads or even factory photos. Oh well. Mike M... if you read this... maybe something to think about for a future release? That would be pretty cool stuff. I haven't seen one of those old records on ebay for several years now. DOC in Kentucky 178 #19 Posted January 30, 2010 I agree with you, Kelly, the binding seems a lot cheaper on the second copy ! But I did get it signed by Cecil and Mike at the PA show!!!

Kelly 1,033 #23 Posted January 31, 2010 I guess I need to listen to the CD, maybe it has a secret measage
gregg.d250 0 #24 Posted January 31, 2010 I haven't listened to the CD either..... must something about keeping the book 'sacred' or something..... and opening the sleeve would be desecrating it... I do agree - as a piece of work which documents a unique part of history it would be a great addition to add more content to the CD should a 3rd edition roll out.
