on the kohler 8hp motors where are the model/serial numbers stamped?

There should be a metal plate attached to the left side of the blower shroud/housing. If the engine is mounted in the tractor, the plate would be facing forward.

I dont think that they are stamped :thumbs: . Heres a pic of the decal on my Kohler 8.

That is the tag,

It should have the model designation, in your case: 181;

It should have the serial number on it;

and, it should have the spec number on it....

The spec number is the number you will need/use in order to order parts for the motor. If you go to OPEEngines.com you can do a search on the spec number and locate what the engine was originally manufactured for (Wheel Horse, Panzer, Cub Cadet, ect...). :thumbs:
