Dresden Guy 24 #2 Posted January 25, 2010 I don't know if WH ever sold this hitch but there are several of them on EBay. It looks like a guy is fabricating them and selling them one EBay. As good as you are at "fabbing" you could just "reverse engineer" his from just looking at it. It looks like his hitch has raised the height of the ball to fit boat trailers, etc. Nice snow cab job ....I have a C-160 so your creativity fascinates me. Keep us posted. TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #3 Posted January 25, 2010 Keep in mind when building adapters to install hitch balls that as the distance from the centerline of the axles to the attachment point increases, so does the tendency of the tractor to get light on the front. It also applies more leverage at the hitch mounting pin which could (I said could) cause the hitch support tab to punch a hole in the bottom of the tranz case. Good info Terry. My father had a 20 ft. travel trailer when we were kids. They were very tongue heavy. He made a hitch to go on the back of his John Deere so he could move the trailer around the yard. The hitch stuck out from the back about 12 inches. Needless to say, the front end of the tractor got light when the extra weight was applied to the back, but at this point he didn't realize that. He was sitting in the seat while I lowered the trailer onto the hitch. Everything was fine until he got off. His weight was the ballast needed to keep the front of the JD on the ground. As soon as he got off, the front of the tractor went up in the air, and the trailer tongue hit the ground. We all got a good laugh, that is everyone but dad. can whlvr 994 #6 Posted January 26, 2010 thanks for the replies,i dont really put any weight on the ball hitch,i use it to hook chain or rope to pull things,i dont think it is homemade as i think it was cast,not welded together,it is handy for some things.
