K341 carb rebild

C-160, new to me, ran o.k after I got it home and tinkered with it for a bit. So I decided to rebuild the carb, easy enough right

Well, I bought this kit:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT

got it back together, set the low idle (2.5 turns out) and high idle (3.5 turns out) and started it. It started, but the thing was smoking like a chimney, it didn't smoke one puff before it tore it apart.

I got gassed out of the garage (had to open up the door and let it air out for about 5 min.) Went back and tried to start it again, crank, crank, crank, crank, crank, crank....then i notice gas is POURING out of the front of the carb.

Now, when I tore this apart, I noticed that the needle and seat were a little different than the original, the needle was longer, but the seat was deeper, so I figured it must be a new design.

What the heck is wrong?

I am getting so antsy to drive this thing around, it's killing me!!!!

If you have gas running out of the carb. It could be that you have the float

set to high to shut off the fuel.

Shoebox, this is tricky trying to explain this how to

ok assemble the needle and seat insert the float pin

put the carb down on a flat surface and make sure the

float is level. If not take it back apart and bend the tab

untill it is level. I always start out with 1.5 turns apiece

on the jets. Then open untill engine idles smooth on the

low end jet. On the high side wide open adjust until

smooth. Give it a try and let us know

I don't remember seeing a tab, but I'll take it back apart tonight and see.

3.5 turns is way more than recommended to start...Did you read the manual?? It shows how to check your float setting. A different length needle valve would change the float setting

I just read over the ebay listing you provided. It appears the rebuild kit is not a kohler part but rather some other brand. That would explain the float valve being a different length and you will have to readjust your float.

o

* PIC 1 SHOWS EVERYTHING INCLUDED IN OUR COMPLETE CARB REBUILD KIT. IT HAS NEW NEEDLE AND SEAT ( VITON TIPPED NEEDLE ) AND ALL GASKETS AND SEALS TO DO A HIGH QUALITY REBUILD.( YOU GET EXACTLY WHAT IS IN PIC 1, NOTHING MORE OR LESS. )

* SPECIALLY DESIGNED SEAT PROVIDES BETTER FUEL FLOW THAN OEM NEEDLE ( THIS IS THE SAME KIT WE USE IN ALL OUR REMANUFACTURED CARBS AND THE ONLY ONE WE WOULD USE IN OUR HIGH PERFORMANCE CARBS!! )

* THIS KIT REPLACES KOHLER NUMBERS 25 757 01-S AND 25 757 02-S. ( THIS FITS ALL KOHLER BRAND AND CARTER BRAND CARBS. DOES NOT FIT THE WALBRO BRAND CARB ) CARB WILL LOOK LIKE ONE WE SHOW IN PIC #4!

I used the settings for the K341 in the first column.

Should I not have used that one?.....which should I use?

Sorry my bad on the 3 turns...most all the other Kohlers are 2-2.5. However, that setting will not resolve the fuel leaking out of the carb that is most likely the float setting relative to your new valve and seat being different...
