jdwheelhorse 0 #1 Posted January 20, 2010 I just got home and was thinking about cleaning the engine up and I noticed this... If you look closely, what appears to me to be engine oil is running down the front under the carb. I noticed a seal thats there and maybe its bad? So heres my questions/thoughts, It could be because I just put 5w 30 in it recently and maybe overfilled it a little (which i dont think i did) or its a bad seal. So does anyone have some numbers of the seal and would a toro dealership be able to get one? Thanks I have a 1974 B80 4speed 8hp
rmaynard 16,301 #2 Posted January 20, 2010 Looks to me like it is coming from the fuel pump gasket. Bob
jdwheelhorse 0 #3 Posted January 20, 2010 Is it available from toro? I can look on the master parts list later I guess. Thanks.
W9JAB 156 #4 Posted January 20, 2010 :banghead: It's leaking so bad the engine has turned green!
jdwheelhorse 0 #5 Posted January 20, 2010 yeah the green paint job is getting on my nerves. the genius who did it painted over all the engine serial numbers and makes everything really difficult.
rmaynard 16,301 #6 Posted January 20, 2010 I know that the fuel pump for the B-80 8-speed is the same as my B-100 (K241s). The original metal fuel pump has been replaced with plastic, but the gasket is still the same. Check with Kohler. But since I don't know what engine you have, this info may be bogus for you. pfrederi 18,696 #7 Posted January 20, 2010 You might also have a leak in the pump itself. one of mine started leaking oil around the pivot pin the pump arm pivots on. Try cleaning it up then running it to see if you can isolate the leak. Edit...the plastic pumps I have found use a red o ring like seal instead to the old flat gasket
rmaynard 16,301 #8 Posted January 20, 2010 JD, The Kohler gasket pn is 2504110. $1.05 on the Kohler website. This is a flat gasket. Bob Kohler Engine Parts

RAMJET 0 #10 Posted January 21, 2010 Make sure your crankcase vent is clear. I have had this problem and oil just poured out of the fuel pump.
jdwheelhorse 0 #11 Posted January 21, 2010 Make sure your crankcase vent is clear. I have had this problem and oil just poured out of the fuel pump. where is that located? is that the mesh area on the crank case?
pfrederi 18,696 #12 Posted January 21, 2010 Look just above the fuel pump. There should be a metal plate about 1.5 inches by 3. should have a rubber hose coming out of it. Take the cover off. There should be a drain hole in teh bottom of teh unit to let accumulated oil run back into the crank case...make sure it is clear and that the breather filter is clean....
