Recommended Posts

Greetings, I have just bought a Wheelhorse tractor that I am having trouble Identifying. It is a late 40's early 50's tractor. All of the sites that I have tried, the information does not go back this far.

The serial number on it is 33618

The motor is a Kohler K90T

The other number on it is 27107D

If anyone can help It would be grately apperciated.

It is in very good contdition and just needs some TLC.

Sounds like you have an RJ-58 (1958)

There were no smaller Wheel Horse tractors until the mid 1950's.

Hi, Andrew, and :banghead: !

I don't have an answer for you but someone should be along who will. Glad to have another member among our "neighbors to the north"! Tons of knowledge here and a whole bunch of affection for these great red tractors!

Thank you for the information that you sent. It does have the work POND on it. So it has to be from 1955-57.

Nice  That is a keeper that's for sure! Like Jason said it's either a 56 or 57 Ride Away Junior. The 55's didn't have Wheel Horse embosed on the hood.

Hi,

Nice tractor.

Too bad it is missing all of the original drive pulleys and arms.

I have the blue prints for the variable speed arms and lever as well as some other drawings to complete the drive system. Let me know if you need them.

You can get a 6" tranny drive pulley from tractor supply that looks identical to the originals but standard they had a 7". Smaller pulleys were options.

Your tractor looks like another very late 1956 tractor. They had black wheels and '57 decals with a spoke rubber wheel.

Bill Jenkins would have your engine drive pulley or VinsRJ has one in the FS section that's missing the reverser disc.

Here is what the system is supposed to look like. Here are some pictures of my 1956 1/2 tractor.

Andrew, here's an old post of a highly photo-documented RJ-35 project from last year. Check it out if you're interested.

Here is the blue print of the vari speed brackets.

It may seem confusing but take it step by step. It took us a day to make.

I will add blue prints of the shift arm soon.

I do not know the dimensions of the shift rod and some other minor things.
