Lane Ranger 11,395 #1 Posted January 20, 2010 I have a question for you Lawn Ranger owners out there. I have a 1967 L-157 Lawn Ranger (electric start Tecumseh) and a 1967 L-107 Lawn Ranger ( recoil start Tecumseh). Both have lift handles on the left side of the tractor for the mower deck, snow plow, etc. However the L-107 Lift Handle Quadrant (Part #5538) has two places for the lift handle to set in and the L-157 only has one. I just wondered if Wheel Horse added a second cut in the Quadrant lift to give more options for the lift handle use in later models. The cut is exactly like the other cut on my L-107 so I do think it is factory and I did see another Lawn Ranger at a show last year that had the same cuts on the Quadrant for the lift handle to set in. Any information from any of the Lawn Ranger owners or Wheel Horse history folks out there would be appreciated.
sorekiwi 761 #2 Posted January 20, 2010 Hi Lane, I dont know much about your "late model" (!!) Rangers, but I do know the quadrant on my '63 Ranger only has the one slot, and the one on my 502 has another one in the centre. Here's the one from the Ranger: and the 502 (kinda hard to see, but its there!):
pfrederi 18,667 #3 Posted January 29, 2010 My L-107 has only one slot. Father bought it new in 1967 and lift mechanism has not been modified. He added the extra metal tab as the slot and the rod both wore and would occasionally drop the deck. (don't let the battery fool you it is a 107...father was way to frugal to spring for electric starting. I added a starter (but no charging system) As to why a second slot, the location of the lock rod in the picture would be a perfect location for a slot as it would hold the snow plow just off the ground and save a lot of wear on the blade edge, (LR snow plows don't have skids)
Lawn Ranger kid 14 #4 Posted January 30, 2010 My l-107 has two slots also. The second Just a little lower than the other. It might be factory But I don't think it is Josh

Lane Ranger 11,395 #7 Posted February 1, 2010 Thanks oldandred for the response on the lift handle quarant! I thought that the quadrant I have with two holes on it was too good a job to be done as a non-factory addition! I guess I just underestimated dogged determination to make that lift go further! So I have one Lawn Ranger lift quadrant with one slot for the lift handle and one with two slots!
