There are several of us in and around Ft Wayne also. If there is anything that we can do, just yell.

I have a deck and belt tensioners from a 1056, but there not in perfect shape,

they would need some work. Assuming that they would fit.

Wow, thank you so much!!! Now I really wish I would have been more on the ball when I was in town. I could have done so much more. If it would fit what kind of work does the deck need? Thanks

Honestly -- not until someone gets the model number off the tag.

But....... the parts you seek are the same between the 855 and 856, so technically we're close enough. :banghead:

I don't know right off whether the deck will fit or not. I am busy with something else at the moment and will look into it.

However, I do know that I have a neighbor about a mile down the road with a 856 with the deck and he is asking 150$ for the whole thing.

He thinks that the tranny is bad, so we will assume that it is. (i am not sure that it is).

Anyway, check your PM.

Thanks so much! Really intersted in the decks. I want to find him one before spring. Take your time though..pretty sure everything is still frozen in the North. Got your pm...right back at ya

@Larry

If the deck from your 1056 is an RL-366/367 (two blade / cross shaft style) it will physically attach to the 855(?) tractor, but the three-groove deck drive pulley would need changed.

If it's the RL-426 (three blade / side discharge style) it will not work on the short frame models.

Just so you don't think I'm messin' with you.....

This is an 856:

Essentially the same tractor (ignore the boat seat :banghead: ) with the exception of a few very minor things. As you can see, it's very hard to tell the difference from a picture on a computer.

If your dad happened to buy his tractor near the end of 1965, it very well could be either model. :WRS:

I am pretty sure that is is an RL 366 . I think that the deck would work.

However, my 1056 had the PTO on the crank that you engage with the big long handle. Doesn't the 856 have the one with the foot pedal?

Sorry, it's too darn cold and late to go out and look.

That's correct.

The main difference being the #6908 pulley where the PTO belt and the two small deck drive belts intersect.

The RL-366 deck pulley arrangement (it's loose in this picture):

1966RL-366.jpg

The RM-365 deck for the foot pedal PTO tractors:

The only exception would be if her dad's tractor had the special PTO kit with the large pulley / clutch like the newer tractors. (I'm not sure on the kit #, but I think it's PT-7)
