Daddysgirl 0 #1 Posted January 19, 2010 Hi, I'm new here and hoping I can find some help. I am trying to buy parts for my Dad's 1965 Wheel Horse without him knowing about it. He bought this tractor in 1965. I live in NC and my Dad lives in IN. I was just home for a week visiting and while he was napping I tried to find the model number but had no luck. Can anyone help me identify the model? Also, how interchangable are the parts within the 1965 models? It needs a throttle cable and knob, knob for shifter, deck, generator knob??, and a hood ornament. It is in great working condition and he had the orginal engine rebuilt so I want to stay as true to the original as possible. Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to offer. My brother has my grandfather's Wheel Horse that he bought in the late 60s so I've got a love for these tractors especially. Hopefully we can pin it down for sure and I can send my daddy some parts. As I said, you should be able to find a lot of help. CasualObserver 3,411 #5 Posted January 19, 2010 Can't be a 1075... the gearshifter alone rules that out... (the 1075 was a hydro ) Does however look like an 855. Motor looks to small to be a 10, and the 6 was not a Kohler. Kim, most of the parts you are looking for are still available directly through your local Toro dealer or at online parts places. Look in the Links section (click here) to see some that we've collected. As for a deck, you'll probably have to find that used. The response is so wonderful and I so appreciate it! Way too cool that the Toro dealers have parts (so much easier). I looked through the photo galleries and I forgot to take a picture of the right side of the tractor (duh) so I'm going at this half blind. Are we fairly sure that it is an 855? How interchangable are the parts that I am looking for between the same year models? If anyone has a deck I would be extremely happy to talk with you! Thanks again all! Absent model numbers, we tend to rely on photos around here to advise/answer almost anything...which is another way of saying, we just plain love pictures! (855 or 856) The two models are so similar that I can't tell them apart without looking at the belt guard sticker or the tag under the dash. Have your sister look in this area for the tag (you can actually see it in this photo): It will have either "T-855" or "T-856" stamped into the upper portion with a serial number below. When you were trying to find numbers on it did you read the data plate on the engine? An 855 would have a K-181S engine. The ID tag for the tractor itself should be on the "console", just below the dash. Maybe your sister could check for it. She may have to kinda stand on her head a bit to find it. Probably one that lives accross the street. A deck from one of them would save shipping and hauling, just have to be delivered at the right time, or picked up. The horse is worth fixing, and what a nice thing you are doing. He is home today from work which is so out of character...and his making it difficult to not look too strange poking around the tractor. So she is going to get back to me later. My brother may be an option.. not sure if he knows off hand and maybe he could ask Dad just as a guy conversation kind of thing. Hadn't thought of that before. That will be my next route.
