TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #6 Posted January 19, 2010 so W/Horse only made that model in a tecmseh engine with a pull start? there was no Kohler engine option with a start/Gen model??? The model number "describes" the tractors horsepower, transmission, and year. (with some exceptions) A 657 would translate as: 6 = 6hp 5 = 3 speed transaxle with electric start engine 7 = 1967 The one you're asking about with the electric start Kohler would be an 857. Almost identical to the 657, but with wider tires and an 8hp Kohler.
