Here are a couple of action pics I found of Mike M (MRM) and my self pulling in competition. Mike is on his C121 and I'm on my or what used to be my then Sparky's then Tony's then Ben's 418-A. I've got just over 5,000lbs on the sled, and Mike has 6,000 on his.

I've got a nice new video camera and I am going to see if I can get some shots of Mike using his C121 as a pull back tractor for the 3,500lb class farm tractors this year. Many of you may not believe, but he can out pull many antique farm tractors in the 3,500 lb class. He only weighs in at around 2,500 I think too.

Well, drove right up and much to my suprise, it didn't even move it. So to err on the side of caution and prevent self inflicted injury to unmentionable regions, I didn't really push it that hard. I'm sitting on top of that pump you know and I was afraid of it turning into a hand grenade. Mike tugged his almost all the way down the track.

Seems that you guys have a lot of stone boat sleds.

All of the sleds are weight transfer sleds down here

How does the pulling get harder as you go down the track?

Charlie, I'm going to guess it's similar to the pulling we used to do (and some still do at County/State Fairs) with oxen. There is a set distance called a "full pull". With each successful pull they increase the weight on gthe stone boat. When no one can any longer make a full pull, the person who gets the most distance becomes the winner.

Just my guess....

Well, Duff got it. Charlie. I much prefer a transfer sled, it's not as abusive to the tractor in my opinion. With a stone boat, you increase the weight each time until your left with the person who pulls the furthest. Unfortunatly, the blocks we had to use at this pull were about 1,000lbs to 1,100lbs each. No one brought blocks for garden tractors. So, that pull went pretty quick adding an average of 1,000lbs of weight at the end of each run. The C series you see there will pull about 1,000lbs more then what you see in that picture there.

The thing I don't like about the stone boat is, that your pulling full weight all the time and if you can't get it to budge, your dead in the water. I like the transfer sled more, because you have a better chance and it's more competitive in my own opinion. It also more fun I think. Gowing down the track in low first can take some time. I'd prefer high second or even third in some cases.

Duke, as far as the wheel weights, I've got those doubled up on each wheel, or if your talking about the dead weight in the seat, I'd have to agree with you. I think that seat weight would look good on your C too.
