RadFisher 0 #1 Posted January 13, 2010 Hi Guys: So I acquired a long frame standard 42" plow blade that I want to mount on a WH 312-8 tractor the piece that was with this plowthat I believe is for the lift arm to frame linkage is 12.5" overall and 11.5" from on center with the pins. Upon reading the other posts I read that this piece is suppose to be 5.25" overall and 4" on center with the pins. I looked at the diagram posted by TT and see that part# 19 has 3 holes in the arm the trunion attaches to and the other 2 holes are for snow plow attachments to be mounted for extra height. with this long piece that I have is it meant to attached to the #19 piece and the other end to the frame? Do i need to make it shorter for it to attach to the lift arm? Do I have the wrong blade/frame and it would need to be modified? Anything would help and be greatly appreiciated. Thanks
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #2 Posted January 13, 2010 It sounds like you have the solid lift link which will take the place of the chain, eyebolt, and trunnion currently on your tractor. (connects parts #19 & #27 in the first image below) If you use the solid lift link you will be able to apply down pressure to the blade by simply pushing forward on the attachment lift lever. Instead of cutting and/or modifying the long link (might come in handy later) you can use a short piece of chain (about 3 or 4 links) or make a new shorter link up from "scratch". RadFisher 0 #3 Posted January 14, 2010 I'll give it a try, I'll take the chain, eyebolt, and trunion off. Attaching the link to the upper arm of part# 19 in the illistration is a baer to do then to get a cotter pin up in there. Do you know which side the link attaches to of the # 19 piece? The chain link idea or making the shorter link sounds more easier to do for taking the plow on an off the tractor. I also have a 37" mower deck I plan to use during the summer, until I can get back to the lower 48 and buy another tractor.
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #4 Posted January 14, 2010 Sometimes it's easier to access the bellcrank area by removing the lower dash panel and reaching up through from in front of the shifters. The long link should attach to the left side of the bellcrank (#19) just like the trunnion on the chain eyebolt. The short link is the best method of attachment unless you want the downpressure capability.
rickv1957 74 #5 Posted January 14, 2010 I use the solid links on both front and mid mount blades and really like them!,Rick
RadFisher 0 #6 Posted January 14, 2010 Thanks Guys! I called the guy that sold me the plow blade and he said he had it on a WH 1055 tractor. I like the idea of being able to aplly pressure to the blade using the longer link, but I can make a shorter one or use chain links for ease of attaching on and taking off. Would like to acquire a snow thrower so I have a means to remove snow from my driveway when we get hit with a large measurable amount of snow. Be nice to have 2 tractors one with each attachment, but there are'nt many Wheel Horses here in Alaska where I'm at. Thanks Again.
