Greg Parnell 6 #1 Posted January 12, 2010 I've seen all kinds of modifications done to the tractors but I haven't see this yet...at least I don't think Since I don't have the extra parts laying around, this idea is a suggestion for anyone with the talent and parts to do so. So here's my idea I'm thinking of an older round hood style tractor with all four tires being the same size as the rear tires (the ags that are not so wide). I'm thinking the steering parts, rims and custom hubs up front would need to be modified but it sure sounds cool to me.
dunk50 6 #2 Posted January 12, 2010 Hey Greg, don't see a link or photo. What are you describing.
whfan74 2,071 #3 Posted January 12, 2010 Would be an interesting modification job to say the least. There may be others out there with the same interest but I would like to say that I tend to be more of a purist. But if it is a bunch of left over parts from parted out tractors I say go for it! Curmudgeon 28 #4 Posted January 12, 2010 Bob in Michigan has made several articulated, four wheel drive Wheel Horses. While he's typically used newer models, it would be the look you're after, only his is fully functional 4x4's. There is a picture of one in the Charlotte show thread. Duff 206 #5 Posted January 13, 2010 Greg, this is a newer model than you want to work with, but check it out for the "cool factor"! http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?showtopic=8802 Duff

Duff 206 #7 Posted January 13, 2010 Rick, I think when he said, "I haven't seen this yet...", he meant the idea, not a photo. That's why I gave him the link to a picture.... Duff
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #8 Posted January 13, 2010 Any of you older members remember this drawing? I'm pretty sure Greg is talking about changing the front end over to bigger tires and still using the conventional steering instead of building an articulated machine. Duff 206 #9 Posted January 13, 2010 Aaahhh! Forgot about that (and its related) drawings, TT! Nice work! Duff
Greg Parnell 6 #10 Posted January 13, 2010 Here is a quick photo edit of my idea. Standard round hood with 4 big tires.
bork 0 #11 Posted January 13, 2010 What the hey! Go for it! But you may have more pressure on your steering componants.
Stigian 1,234 #12 Posted January 13, 2010 I say "go for it" Greg You might want to think about cutting and lowering the front spindles so your WH isn't sitting nose up.. The other thing to think about is, is there enough space to turn the larger front wheels without them hitting the chassis/engine.anything else..
Stress Test Pullin 0 #13 Posted January 14, 2010 if you could get it to work, that would be awesome!
