millman 0 #1 Posted January 12, 2010 I just bought this tractor today for $160 . It runs and everything works it's just ugly right now. The paint is really bad , with surface rust. The decals are peeling and I just need to know where to get the decals and what color of red to use.
Irv 115 #2 Posted January 12, 2010 you can get the decals from vinylguy right here in our venders section. There are a couple different paints used, and there has been a lot of discussion about which is best as far as color. ease of application, dry time, etc. IH red by Valspar, Rustoleum Regal Red and Krylon are what are mostly used. Look around at the posts in restoration section. And Sounds like a good deal you got and we would like some pics.

rmaynard 16,292 #4 Posted January 12, 2010 Welcome aboard millman. Glad to have you. You got a good deal no matter what it looks like. Take a look through the many discussions on color. Then you will be as confused as the rest of us. Your choice of colors is only limited by your imagination, and your ability and facilities to paint. If you are a "rattle can" painter, Valspar Tractor & Implement New Holland Red (from TSC) is my choice. If you are set up to spray with an HVLP system, I am using an Acrylic Urethane paint from Kirker Automotive finishes called Flame Red. It is also known as GM Code 81. As was stated earlier, vinylguy is your source for decals. Lots of info is available here, so don't hesitate to ask. Bob :WRS:
