jdwheelhorse 0 #1 Posted January 11, 2010 Ok, I have a B80 and my lift lever will not latch into the notch under any kind of weigth at all. I have lubed it up numerous times and still wont work. I can take the plow off and it latches but if I put any pressure on the lever it un-latches. Anyone have any ideas? Also, what hole does the plow hook into on the lift bar? Is there a specific one that makes it any easier to lift? Is there anything I can use to make the lifting easier? Thanks in advance.
Indy w h 5 #2 Posted January 11, 2010 Put the lift rod in the hole closest to the pivot point. You'll loose height but it'll lift a lot easier. It sounds like either your thumb rod is wore out or the deal on the hood stand is wore. Take some pics andpost them so we can see Indy
jdwheelhorse 0 #3 Posted January 11, 2010 This is the bottom where its supposed to latch. This is the current connecting rod position This is (if you can see it) the current position of the connecting rod and the lift bar. Plow is not connected at the moment. Thanks. TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #4 Posted January 11, 2010 Hook it up like this: These models have a tendency for the lift arm to bend near the bottom which makes a wider gap between the lever weldment and the Dial-A-Hite casting. If the latch tab isn't close enough to the slot, it won't stay latched - especially if the tab is worn.
rmaynard 16,291 #5 Posted January 11, 2010 It's GREEN. That's the problem. Bob
hounddoghundzsa 7 #6 Posted January 12, 2010 I agree, scrape the boogers off and It'll work just fine. How would you work dressed in pink! LMAO!!!! :banghead:
rickv1957 74 #7 Posted January 12, 2010 A used lift handle can be found on ebay pretty easy if yours is bad,Rick
HankB 16 #8 Posted January 12, 2010 This is the one I spoke of with multiple hole positions. The furthest out hole (where it is now) gives you the most lift but least mechanical advantage. You can reduce the effort somewhat by using one of the other holes. Attaching the lift arm as indicated in the other picture will further reduce effort (and lift distance.) Both of those changes will also reduce how much the latch has to hold to keep the blade up and may help that as well.
Cody 277 #9 Posted January 12, 2010 I had the same problem on a C-160, what i had done is i made a few shims and bolted them behind the Dial-A-Height casting, to bring it out closer to the lift handle so it would latch. Sense then i have not had any more problems with it.
jdwheelhorse 0 #10 Posted January 12, 2010 what did you make the shims out of?
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,527 #11 Posted January 12, 2010 Maybe I missed something but isn't there an adjusting dial on the lift lever like the c' 3,4 and 500's ?? If so adjust that dial and it should help. That may not be it but worth looking at.
jdwheelhorse 0 #12 Posted January 12, 2010 I dont need to adjust the height i just need the lever to lock into place when its fully raised.
can whlvr 994 #13 Posted January 13, 2010 some times the spring inside the lift handle wears out,or the special cup that it sits in wears out ,theres a roll pin to take out to get to the spring and cup,my 308 did this and a new spring fixed it,my 414 is doing this now too,i think the rod is worn on mine, good luck. Cody 277 #14 Posted January 13, 2010 I made the shims out of 16 gague metal, I took the Dial-A-Height peice off and traced it on the metal and cut them out, I made four shims so i could get it as close as possible. You may need more or less for your application.
