Sarge 3,465 #1 Posted January 9, 2010 Well, another round of the white stuff in Illinois and another layer added to the piles. This last batch was very fluffy so it wouldn't pack enough to add much height to the piles, but this is where I'm at right now.... Here's what it looked like before the storm got really wound up - Need to make a new set of rear chains for the old C-160, this set is shot and they just won't bite very well in the snow/ice we have now. Sarge 3,465 #3 Posted January 9, 2010 With this old C-series, very much so. Never thought I'd consider them , but looking hard at buying a set of those v-shaped biter chains for the old warrior. (when up) Just curious, if I should readjust mine, but I'll have to remove a pulley that is in the way,(hitting the plow's frame) that is not being used. Sarge 3,465 #10 Posted January 9, 2010 I think with the current lift link in place the blade will go up around 8-10", I'll have to measure it when the temps warm up a bit . -14*F out in the shed now. The solid link is a bit long to aid in down pressure so the blade could go up just a bit more, it's just shy of the front axle. I have a chain tool as well as a bag of the side link "u"-shaped pieces but need some more. Might look into buying a set of v-links but would prefer to just buy the bulk chain since I want to build a modified H-pattern set to work better on side hills and on ice.
