Battry Charging

I have a walmart everstart battry She is just now starting to crank very weack. ( cold weather ) i filled it up with water an have it on 12v 2amp charge. Does anyone know how long it takes to be at full charge. i wanna say 4- 6 hours not sure tho :thumbs:

If you have a float charger that shuts down automatically at full charge, I would recommend leaving it on overnight and letting it get a maximum charge....

Im sure it can be done but at 2 amps, it's kind of hard to over charge a battery. Did you use distilled water when you filled it?

no it took a good amount of water tho I figure long slow charge will do it some good My john deere i have to charge tomarow nite and check for parasitic draw Basicly i think Re wire rather then patch Its a 1972

I always leave a 10 amp automatic charger on for 12 to 24 hours to get a full charge. I have a 420 cold cranking amp battery on my horse. Battery dealer once told me that you need at least 10 amps for a minimum of 12 hours to get a full charge. That is assuming that you don't have a weak or dead cell.

I was under the impression Slow steady charge was best " Trickle " I charged my 416 it had 11.6v i charged it for about 5 hours 12v 2 amp She has 13.2 now. I guess its all a madder of opinion. My john deere however i may take up up on that advice. It mesured 6.2 volts on 12v battry I got it on 12 v 2amp now ill see how she is in the morning. Im not trying to be a " Know it all " just looking an listing to some new an unheard of ideas :thumbs:
