Iggy68 28 #1 Posted January 8, 2010 Getting close to doing new wiring on the 953 and I have looked on the schematics for wire gauge sizes and did not see any. It appears the old wire was 16 gauge for almost everything. A PO had done some rewiring on this machine and I don't trust that this is original size. Any would be great/
tgranthamfd 29 #2 Posted January 8, 2010 Not sure but it sounds like it is in the ballpark. we have a couple of wireing experts on here, maybe one of those guys will be on shortly.
Save Old Iron 1,571 #3 Posted January 8, 2010 Mark, just a ballpark figure 12 gauge ok to 20amps 14 gauge ok to 15 amps 16 gauge I would limit to 10 amps. Choose your wiring and crimp terminals to serve the circuit your wiring up. You probably can wire your lights with 16AWG but I would keep any charging circuitry to 12 AWG. There is no harm in buying just one roll of 12AWG and having at the whole tractor. Wire should be stranded .. not solid core. Stay away from non automotive products. Hookup wire from Radio Shack will not survive the elements. Beldon makes a very good product !
Bow_Extreme 550 #4 Posted January 8, 2010 I agree with the above listed wire gauges. I would personally run 12 gauge to most everything. That should be copper stranded wire for automotive use. The automotive use is particularly critical given it's made for harsh environments.

rickv1957 73 #6 Posted January 8, 2010 I used a combo of 12 and 14 gauge on my last rewire job, works great after 5 years,Rick
