1967 Lawn Ranger with snowthrower!

Finally got the STR-324 snowthrower in action today! I had a ball and it was worth the wait! The wind and snow blowing went everywhere!

The video shows some good action on moving the chute, the thrower clutch engaged, etc.

The 6HP Tecumseh worked great and the thrower did a better job than I thought it would.

Your Lawn Ranger looks great! Great video. They are such a fun little Wheel Horse.

I had a Lawn Ranger like yours about 10 or so yrs ago that was mint. I bought it from Mike Martino, the author of Straight from the Horses mouth. I used it to mow the lawn and it was the perfect tractor to mow my yard. The tractor was a beauty that Mike restored and I wish I never sold it.

Mike:

I took my chains off the tractor before starting this as I was not happy with the way they were acting and there is NOT a lot of clearance with this thrower. It has the steel wheels on it and it probably only drops and inch and a half when you let down the lift rod handle.

But I backed out into the street in reverse and the blacktop pavement is about four inches higher than the end of my drive. Going back up the drive I could not get her back up on the drive! Those rear wheels just kept spinning and no forward motion.

I had to get off my big butt, turn off the snowthower with the pto clutch, and push that tractor on to the drive.

Nice set-up with the blower!

Maybe someday I can at least get a plow for my LR when I find the time to get it back together.

Lane glad the blower is working out for you.

I find my Ranger W/blower is pretty handy & doesn't feel as clumsy as the bigger snow blower I had on a C160.

With the 8 speed conversion on my Ranger it really works slick for blower work.

It still hogs through deep snow, but only cuts a 32" path that works perfect for my location & it's pretty easy to lift a small snowblower with the lift arm.

Steve: I just said to my brother David this morning that you would be surprised how fast first gear seems on that Lawn Ranger with that snowthrower going!

I told him you need a low-low. I see now why you put one on your Lawn Ranger!!

Rick: My sister Cindy made the seat cover for the Lawn Ranger. My brother in law owns a trucking company and she makes the replacement seat covers for his trucks.

She was thinking about making some to sell but she works full time and her only other Wheel Horse projects were the two 1054's seats she made for my Dad and brother's Wheel Horse.

Here are some photos of the Lawn Ranger seats:

She does really nice work. Too bad she doesn't have the time, 'cause I think she could make some extra money. I know I would buy one.
