rustynut 4 #1 Posted January 7, 2010 the damm thing wants to run with the choke wide open and if i try to push the choke in it will just die. i jst bought this mower it runs good but when i have the choke all the way put it will just kinda sputter and dont have any power. i think it needs a fuel pump or just a carb adjustment. now it also cranks slow like it will crank, not crank, crank, not crank like the battery is low but it bran new and i put the load tester on it and it tested good i just dont know i alos think my problem is it freezin balls in indiana so tht muight be part of my problem with the battery. plz im happy to hear anytiong you say
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #2 Posted January 7, 2010 I don't think we ever determined exactly what you have yet, did we? It's very tough to offer suggestions without knowing what engine you're working with. Can you offer any clues? :banghead:

rocking 416 1 #4 Posted January 7, 2010 You can try voltage drop test if you have a good multimeter and are mechanical savy. or far as slow cranking. Check connections loose connections burnt wires or did you keep a Cheap battry? make sure it has enough cold cranking amps

rwilson 128 #8 Posted January 7, 2010 Easy on them old tecumseh's. I have 3 of them. Not a one smoke and they all run like a champ. I'm not a big fan of them but the one in my C-120 hasn't let me down yet. As for slow cranking, mine all do it in the cold weather too. I wish I knew what caused it. Also sounds like your fuel pump is going. Or possibly plugged.
rustynut 4 #9 Posted January 7, 2010 ya ill have to loook at it when i go back to my dads where all my wheel horses are but ill cleen he float bul out again and the fuel pump and change the plug. its pissin me off why it dont want to run right just makes me **** my pants over it
Buzz 502 #10 Posted January 7, 2010 Straight 30W oil will make them crank slow in cold weather. Did you change it to 10W30?
