buckrancher 2,694 #4 Posted January 9, 2010 If it's a self grounding switch PM Mike McGuire (mikesrj) he has some for sale
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #5 Posted January 9, 2010 It's a "regular" ignition switch with the split key. P/N is 3656 (NLA, of course) but an adequate replacement should be available through Cole-Hersee. I have changed a few over to the "INDAK" switches used on the "throw-away" lawn tractors like MTD, AYP, etc.
hounddoghundzsa 7 #6 Posted January 9, 2010 I've got an 854 that I redid. The ignition switch had one of the three tabs broke off and needed replaced. I couldn't find a new or used one anyplace as they are no longer made. Seen a few on ebay that went for upwards of 50-60 bucks. I ended up getting one from TSC that I think has four poles. It works alright, but I have to disconnect the battery when I'm not using it or it'll kill the battery.
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #7 Posted January 9, 2010 I wasn't aware of TSC carrying a switch heavy enough to handle the starter motor current. The 551 has a starter relay (solenoid), so a light-duty switch will work. Have you tried to determine what is causing your battery drain, Scott?

The easy way to fix a 854 style starter key switch is to use a starter solenoid and a light duty key switch one of my 854's is set up that way. works great
