Yeah, I take them for a cruise from time to time but usually because the kids ask for a ride. It makes for a good excuse  .

Nothing like driving around the neighbor hood with a cold one in yer hand, Wonder if they could pull one over for open container :banghead::hide:

Most likely.

I'm not up on the specifics of other state's laws, but in Kentucky it is illegal to operate ANY vehicle, motorized or not, under the influence. Non-motorized vehicles include animals, bicycles, roller skates,... What that means is that if you get drunk and try to ride a mule across your own farm you can be arrested. (It's illegal to be drunk on yer as$ in Kentucky.).

I almost hate to admit this, but one of my (now late) uncles was so notorious for riding his mower around town while "buzzed" that a judge took it away from him.

In MA, operation of any motorized vehicle on a public roadway while under the influence is a criminal offence and that includes riding mowers. Now on the other side of things, you can legally operate a slow moving vehicle on any public road way as long as the vehicles is equipped with a slow moving vehicle triangle un registered for up to two miles from the home point of origin if that vehicle is being used for agricultural purposes. Any further then the two miles, then you have to have it registered with a farm plate which will enable you to operate it up to 150 miles from its home point of origin.

Now show me a cop in a farming community that will hastle you about driving a tractor on the road and I'll eat my hat. Many of the cops out here are running a small scale farm. The only reason I took the time to look it up is, one I work for my home town PD and really don't want to be the idiot that gets jammed up with something silly like that, and two I've got some acerage about a mile or so from my house. There really are three reasons, I love seat time.

yes we always go for a stroll around town. i have never had anyone tell me its illegal but they were trying to pass a city ordinance of no riding mowers on the streets.(did not work) i found that the people alwas want to stop and ask questions about the tractors, seems evreyone has a uncle, grampa or some family member that used to have one.one day i was taking my l 107 lawn ranger for a ride and a fellow told me it should be illegal to do that to a lawn mower.see im kinda of a big guy :banghead: but its good exercise for them and i enjoy it too

In Florida you can operate a farm tractor without a drivers license or tag. You can bet the trooper that comes to your neighbors house thinks he is an embosil. I am thankful that all mt neighbors have golf carts, four wheelers and tractors. No one bothers anyone. I live in a farm belt area and everyone helps each other. I am like you, I mow the neighbors yard sometime for free because they can't aford a riding mower and I can't sit and watch him push mow. Kepp doing the nice things and believe me the trooper is on your side. I know because I am one.

You should change your name to "McCloud" Sam. Quote, "There Ya go"

Or are you too young to know him.(Denise Weaver)

I too ride my WH around the block or to the gas station.

The older guys are jealous, and so are the younger kids. This is how we felt 20-40 years ago when we saw an "old timer" riding his WH down to the drugs store or cafe.

Really, we are just kids in larger bodies! If you don't agree, just take a look at some of us "playing" in the snow, or moving buildings and the like with our treasurered WH's.

There was a feature length movie made about 15 years ago about an old boy (too old & too poor to drive a car) driving his little garden tractor (a green one) several hundred miles on country roads to visit his brother. The movie is about all his adventures along the road, towing his little trailer, and his sense of accomplishment for doing the 'impossible'. Kinda cute adventure movie, don't know the name, would mainly only interest us small tractor people.

Tractors on the public road are legal in NC without a slow moving sign. I get out there but stay off the pavement the speed limit in front of my house is 55 and they drive a lot faster. I also live three mile from the only exit on I-85 with in five miles in either direction, we have a lot of traffic. It's not safe out there on a slow moving tractor. I rode my bicycle all over this area 55 years ago, I wouldn't do it now. I would still like to have the old country road I was about 6 years old when it was first paved. Progress isn't all good but that's just the way it is.

I am fortunate enough to be able to ride sidewalks all over...I usually clear them in winter around the house. Like anything else...if you are being a jerk, you can bet there is a law against it...if you are doing good...no problem. It is great seat time....not to mention the honks and waves from my admire-ers

The funny thing is that i used to plow the neighbors drive way that calls the police all the time, we used to board his quarter horse for him, and we used to be good friends. Then out of no where he turned and started giving absolutely everyone in the neighborhood problems. I plow most of the neighbors driveways and mow their grass not wanting anything in return, i just like helping people out, and all the seat time is good too. All the neighbors love seeing and talking about the tractors, and it brings smiles to their face and they often say those old tractors bring back memories.
