pfrederi 18,696 #1 Posted January 5, 2010 My question is about the appropriate level of resistance in spark plug wires on a KT-17 in a c175. Most of my old stuff has copper core spark plug wires so the appropriate resistance level is near 0. The KT-17 (and i fear the Magnum 18 on the 418A) use new fangled carbon core wires. I have looked through the KT-17 service manual and cannot find any spec for resistance reading on the plug wires.... Is there a generic acceptable resistance level per inch of wire??? What I got was 6800 Ohms on #2 wire (9" long) or 756 ohms per inch and 10,500 Ohms on teh #1 wire (18" long) or 583 ohms per inch. Would I screw anything up if i just replaced them with good old copper wires??? .... I really do not give a damn if I interfere with somebody's cell phone or wi-fi
Don1977 605 #2 Posted January 5, 2010 I don't see anything it could hurt, it's just a wire from your coil to the spark plug.
W9JAB 156 #3 Posted January 13, 2010 :banghead: Plain copper wire is best, the high resistance stuff is for R.F. noise.
