Yesterday's Haul - 753 with Dual Wheel Spacers

Recommended Posts

stevebo

Here is the tractor I picked up yesterday. It was only part of what I ended up with. This was owned by a machinest that passed away in 06 and now his estate is being sold. I ended up with a trailer and truck load of hardware, torches etc etc. The tractor came with 2 extra sets of rear 6x12 ags mounted on rims. This is the first time I saw dual wheel adaptors. I thought they were just aftermarket wheel weights  I got it home and threw a charger on it and with a little carb spray it fired over and sounded strong. I need to clean or replace the tank as the left side bolt hole is broken off and the tank is dirty inside (rusty) which as pointed out my TT does not make a lot of sense seeing as though it is aluminum??

I think this one will stay as iss like my 400 since it is in fairly nice original condition.

Looks like those adapters serve as weight and adapters for dual wheels. The best of both worlds!

A little purple power and some steel wool and a scrubby and that thing will look pretty spiffy!

Your tank is rusty because you have the retrofit steel insert tank that was used to fix the leaky 2-piece tank problem (a smaller steel tank was placed inside the original tank). I forgot the service bulletin #. The extended filler neck is the dead giveaway.

Real nice find Steve.

I dont have any seat stuff for it but I think I have a pair of 6x12 tires on rims that match what you have on it now if you wanted to run dual turfs.

Thats a great score! I'd clean it and leave it the way it is.

Love those wheel adaptors, I've never seen a set like that either.

As to the little tank inside the big one (good eyes, Eric) theres a link to the bulletin in this thread: http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2535&hl=

Of course if you are just going to swap tanks then this is of no consequence.

Is that a battery charger hanging on the right hand side?

Yes, it is a battery charger on it which will be coming off soon. I will pull the tank off and see if I can repair and clean it but if not then I will swap it out.

Nice find! Like the way the adapters look. Can you tell if they are heavy?

Is that an 8 speed in the 753 ??

Yes they are very heavy. Sinc ethe po was a machinist I would not doubt it if he made these out of something else. I am not suggesting he did it from a billit rather he may have dripped and tapped and made the hub?? Very good idea to have the weights and spacer as one set up.

I also noticed the 8 speed. Don't think it's quite original, at least to that tractor. Diggin the wheel weight/adapters. They do appear to be older original Bolens. I've only seen one other set but its been a long time. That steel tank insert is probably worth what the whole tractor is worth. Don't see to many of those! Nice find! Where's the rest of the treasure?
