A dump in the woods

Recommended Posts

rmaynard

Stumbled upon this in the woods, frozen upside down to the ground. Tires still had air in them, and there is no rust-through.

Looks like a 05DC01 from the mid to late 1970's.

Unfortunately, there was no tractor attached.

Nice find. :banghead: What woods were you in? Let me know, maybe if I look a little harder, with any luck, I might find the tractor it was attached to.

This is a follow-up to my original posting.

I was contracted by real estate company to do some fix-up work on a house they were listing. It was vacant, and there was considerable trash and junk they were hauling away. I just happened upon this 'dump' in the woods, up-side-down, covered with leaves, with just the wheels sticking up. I took a closer look and saw a faint hint of red under the rust of the axle. It was then that my heart went 'pity-pat'. I thought this just might be a genuine Wheel Horse something or other. After considerable rocking and kicking, I loosened it from the ground (outside temp was about 18). I loaded it on my trailer and brought it home.

After cleaning the dirt and grime off of the front, this is what I found this morning:

Now I can add another item to my signature.
