wingrider 21 #1 Posted December 31, 2009 I have a C 160 Auto Model 1 0480 and a blower Model 6 6211 hooked together for the first time, here is my question. the frame that goes from blower to tractor has a little twist in, just enough to make putting in the long bolt and bushings was a little difficult but it did go in. I had to change the drive belt on the blower because it was shot, and it had been on a C101 before and mounted in the Tac a Matic with another 3/8" threaded rod. Needless to say belt wouldn't come off the pulley, and the pulley was froze to the shaft. Ended up cutting the pulley off and putting on a new 4" pulley After I got the 2 hooked together to measure the belt I took old belt to my local Toro dealer and got a 1" and a 2" shorter belt and fit the shorter belt on it, when I started the motor up the PTO would not stop turning and it was making a squelling noise, that I hadn't heard before. Problem No. 2 When I raise blower up it leans to the left quite a bit, in fact left side only comes up about 2". I've tried adjusting the PTO but no improvement, I've also changed the belt from small pulley to the big one and it stills squells on each. I'm wondering if the mounting frame being bent has anything to do with this. I did notice there is about 3/16" gap on PTO clutch but the outside Pulley side is still turning. The Blower works fine but it will not stop turning when the motor is running. Thanks wingrider
Sparky-(Admin) 23,138 #2 Posted December 31, 2009 If the PTO is turning the blower even tho its disengaged maybe the PTO needs to come off and get some grease smeared inside it. Kinda sounds like its frozen to the engine crank . Now about the blower twisting. Are all 4 bolts installed and tight that hold the blower frame to the blower housing? I would check that first. I had one with a missing bolt and didnt pick up on it for awhile and my blower lifted crooked. Mike......
pfrederi 18,638 #3 Posted December 31, 2009 Regards lifting crooked. Is the pin on the bottom of the blower (that the lift rod hooks to) in the center of the unit??? I have one that the pin is welded about 2 inches off center and it tilts as it lifts. I assumed some PO did a hack weld job but on closer examination it appears to be original.
