B-80 with 42 inch snowplow at work

Recommended Posts

Lane Ranger

I got the B-80 out about 2:30 PM today and started plowing snow.

I use a 42 inch plow with a set of chains on the tractor.

No real ice yet and the snow was light and fluffy.

Might have been a good time to use the Lawn Ranger snowblower but I think I will wait for the next snowfall to use that this winter.

Here are some photos and I added a link to a couple videos of the B-80 in action this afternoon.

The DePauw University Observatory is the white building out in front on my house to the north/left of the drive.

Job well done! Nice looking machine. That vid is excellent :notworthy: Do you leave the PTO engaged as not to put any wear on the bearings? Seems logical Mr Spock

I was messing with the PTO several days ago and just neglected to disengage it.

It did run smooth engaged however.

Not sure if that is any less wear and tear.

Also for Terry in Oklahoma I mostly used second gear for this plowing job. FI used first gear some too.

Here is another short video of some plowing.

Glad you showed this vid. That thin long line of snow in the middle of your driveway was really bothering me. :notworthy: Nice work.

Steve: I hang the camera (my Kodak z740 5 mp digital) around my neck! Too much to do with the two hands to hold a camera when you are plowing!

Terry: That snow you had would be a problem with ot without chains . Chains just break up the ice as you spin your wheels and eventually get some traction on the tractor to move the plow forward.

Indy: I have not started the hydraulic pump rebuild for the 1054 yet. My brotehr is suppose to bring me the pump this next week.

Hope soem of these photos help others with their plowing. I was just having fun today on my old Wheel Horse.
