HorseFixer 2,013 #1 Posted December 13, 2009 Well the Snow Machine needed some new shoes. They were getting a bit thin, So I went to the TORO Shoe Store and Didn't like the $40.00 price Tag <_< so I Rebuilt my own Shoes. Heres Some Pics. I just am not sure if the soles are thick enough? What Ya Think? The Ole Ones were Getting Kinda Thin! and ehen new where 1/4" thick X 1 1/2 wide My Local Steel Supply Hooked My Up With 1/2 thick X 2" wide stock 30" long for $10.60 . Put the fat stock verticle in the vise Heated it up Red and gave it a brake job with big cresent wrench! I Used the old backplates, these Shoes are twice as thick at 1/2" thick, and 1/2" longer and 1/2" wider. I gave them a sandblast job before and after welding. I wiped them down with Laqure thinner let dry and primed with etch primer. I will then paint. And then 2 coats of Red to finish them Off!

CasualObserver 3,411 #6 Posted December 14, 2009 Looks good Duke, nice repair. Not to be a killjoy... but did you make sure your new "thicker" plates still line up with the bolt holes? Depending on what kind of adjustment you had left...if you raised the plate, you may be raising the thrower 1/2 off the ground. Or you could elongate the holes a little more. Jason spacing is not a problem mate as you can see by the pics below! I used two 1/4 pieces of louan to set the depth of the scraper knife same as before.
