rmaynard 16,293 #26 Posted December 13, 2009 I hit the key and started turning over and than stopped. It won't do anything. I had the same problem with my B-100. Found that it was a bad end on the wire from the solenoid to the starter. If I held the key in the start position, and then lifted the wire, I would get a spark where the wire end was crimped. I replaced the wire and have had no problem since. Hope yours is that simple. Bob in Maryland
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #28 Posted December 13, 2009 I already replaced all the wiring with new wiring and ran continuity checks on every wire. They are all good. Has the starter been tested? Maybe there's a dead spot in the armature, bad brushes, broken magnet, etc. :notworthy:

Retired Wrencher 5,772 #31 Posted December 14, 2009 The B-80 models were produced for a total of four years - '74/'75 being the 4 speed model with the medium frame and the flip-up rear fender and '76/'77 being the 8 speed with the long frame and the fixed rear fender / flip-up seat. The B-80 8 speed models are essentially a C-100 with a K-181 Kohler. T/U TT i only thought the 74 was the 4 speed thank`s again for this info. T/C and Happy h/days. jdwheelhorse 0 #37 Posted February 25, 2010 I bought my '75 B80 this december for $100 and IMO i saved it because the previous owners added to their john deere collection in the process of restoration, actually i should say painting. Im not doing a full resto really. The motor will be the last thing i dig into. I use it almost daily to push snow and mess around on.
mavfreak 11 #38 Posted February 25, 2010 I came across a john deere that was painted red and had Internional stickers on it. I really should've taken pictures of it! The guy that had it and all farmalls on his farm but his lawn tractor so he made it red. I would really like to see some more pictures of the green wheel horse! by the way they put alot into that paint job
