I think u can not buy a tractor to day in the same class today that is built like the B80. I do not intend to cause anger in this Quote, I am just let him know how I feel. t/c all happy holidays. Sparky-(Admin) 23,147 #2 Posted December 12, 2009 I dont remember that comment but your right. The B-80 is a stout tractor and is only missing the low range that the C-81's or C-85"s had with the same motor. And to tell the truth, there arent to many times I need low range on my tractors that have it. I would be happy to have a B-80 in my collection. rickv1957 74 #3 Posted December 12, 2009 I agree that a B80 is a very good stout tractor that can do about as much as the larger hp models can,Rick
Dale 0 #4 Posted December 12, 2009 are you sure he was talking about a b-80 i think theres a e-80 with a bottom shaft engine. i have a b-80 it an 8 speed model looks the same as most other wheel horses just a smaller engine. that little 8 hp will surpise you. if thats the case then a 854,857 654 ect are mot much of a tractor and we all know they are. kajamo240 3 #5 Posted December 12, 2009 Thank you T1257. I do recall that comment but chose to leave it as that members opinion. I like my B-80 as it was free and its a good machine to dink around with. It works great for everything that I need it to... Great mower and works well with the blade too! Just looking for my Gear ring and starter for it to do some snow blowing! It has the 8 speed transmission and can hold its own! Lord knows its no C or D series but we are all here to appreciate the same thing right? Wheel Horse! :notworthy:

Lane Ranger 11,395 #8 Posted December 12, 2009 The B-80 is one of the best overall tractors for a homeowner! I don't think for a tiller, snowblower or other heavy uses that it is strong enough but I like my 1975 B-80 amd I am sure you other B-80 owners do too! If you interested only in mowing, removing snow with a snow blade, picking up leaves with a sweeper and hauling with a cart you can have it made with a B-80. 2008 snow removal in Greencastle, Indiana: Mowing : Hauling: Video Sweeping Leaves: http://s728.photobucket.com/albums/ww284/L...nt=102_6999.flv My brother's 1974 B-80 (travlndave on Red Square) repainted this year:

rmaynard 16,293 #10 Posted December 12, 2009 The only thing wrong with a B-80 is I don't have one. About the spell checker... Every time you misspell a word while typing, a red line appears under that word. If you place your cursor on the red-lined word and right-click, you will get the correct spelling of the word. Hope that helps. Bob in Maryland who would be lost without spell check :notworthy:

wheelhorsec85 5 #13 Posted December 12, 2009 :notworthy: ive owned about 18 b80 4 and 8 speeds . and there the perfect little machine for a person that has 1 acre or less of land . it plows great they cut grass good and a lot of other things . the b80 , c-81 , c-85, 308-8 , commando 8 , 854, and a lot of others with the 8 hp kohler are great little machines and id personally put it up against most anything new today . as it is all junk today jeff jeffs wheel horse stable
jpmcleod 4 #14 Posted December 12, 2009 Hey Lane Ranger. It's 81 degrees in Central Florida. Tomorrow I'm picking up moss and small tree branches from a recent storm that dropped the temperature down to about 54 degrees. I guess I don't need a snow blower. Nice photos, great little tractor. I wish it would snow in Florida. Finished the 312-8 today and had to park it in the barn. It was so hot the seat would burn you. (just kiding)
hodge 6 #15 Posted December 12, 2009 I cut my teeth on a B-80. I still have it- it belongs to my 17 year old son, and he is very proud of it. Every model has its place- and for my uses, but, high HP, heavy horses aren't of much use. I like nimble, light weight but heavy duty, and economical horses. I liked the 520, but I could mow 3 times for the amount of fuel it took to mow once with the 520. The parts are common. In my estimation, the B-80, and its cousins, is a very well rounded machine. And, the shining star is that 8 horse kohler. To buy a modern "tractor", it will have to be 12 or 14 HP to do the same work. But, it certainly won't do it for 30 years or more. I take offense at anyone who bashes the B-80. They are just missing out.

WH Raider 10 0 #18 Posted December 13, 2009 I agree with everyone here. Low horse doesn't mean how well a machine works. it all depends on the gears and mechanical advantages... Dan B.
Bow_Extreme 550 #19 Posted December 13, 2009 It's interesting this came up. I'm fighting my B-80 right now and it hasn't driven me crazy yet but it's getting there. I just finished re-wiring the mower and installed a new ignition switch. I hit the key and started turning over and than stopped. It won't do anything. I even bypassed the 2 safety switches, checked all the connections with my meter for continuity and voltage. Just in-case I replaced the starter solenoid with a new one and also jumped the solenoid to make sure there was nothing wrong with the starter. The only thing I ca n think of that's left is the brand new igniton switch I bought is junk. By the way the B-80 is a stout little tractor!! They made it with a low range transmission as well. Lane Ranger 11,395 #20 Posted December 13, 2009 Gary: My B-80 is a three speed with reverse (4 Unidrive) not an 8. They did make the eight speed Hi-Low for B-80 however. The three B-80's in our family are all four speeds so I have no experience with the Hi-Low. I assume the Hi-Low just gives wider range of application for an already wide-range 8 HP tractor! Long live the Wheel Horse and the ideals which brought it to market! :notworthy:

TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #23 Posted December 13, 2009 I just thought after 74 they switch over to the H/Low if u have further info on this anyone else please let me know The B-80 models were produced for a total of four years - '74/'75 being the 4 speed model with the medium frame and the flip-up rear fender and '76/'77 being the 8 speed with the long frame and the fixed rear fender / flip-up seat. The B-80 8 speed models are essentially a C-100 with a K-181 Kohler.
