Wheel Horse C 175 & B-100

Recommended Posts

So today I stopped by a lawn tractor junk yard and low and behold there were a few different horses to choose from. I picked out a B-100 that I needed sheetmetal, wiring, steering wheels and a few other components off of as it was in very good condition. It was already missing the transaxle, rear tire and wheels, and a few small parts. I bought it minus the Kohler for $50.00 which wasn't too bad considering the parts I needed.

Here is my question. They have a C-175 there and it's missing the front wheels and tires, the seat, and the motor is blown and missing the flywheel cover. The rest of the tractor is in excellent condition, better than most that I come across. The seat pan is even in mint condition. Is $100.00 too far out of line for this?

That's just it. I don't need the C-175 parts. It's a very fixable tractor aside from needing a motor, front wheels and tires, and a seat but I'm sure I could pick up parts for it along the way. I'm going to try and negotiate it down to $75.00 tomorrow.

I know he won't take $50. Have you ever tried dickering with a lawn equipment scrap yard? :notworthy: They usually won't take under 300-500 dollars for something many of us would find for free or $50-$100 bill. I will deal with it tomorrow and go from there.

Scrap yards for lawn equipment are somewhat of a rare business so they tend to get what they need for parts and tractors. I don't blame them. It's business and it's still generally 50% or less of new parts or tractors.

And, they are in the unique position of having just what you want.

Yes, yes they are. Or things you don't really need but you just have to get while your there.
