Today's long haul - pics

Recommended Posts

stevebo

Well today "uncle Bo" and I got around to taking the all day haul from CT to Pa and back to pick up the C105 with 42 inch rd deck. I also picked up a Suburban 400, tiller, 42 inch deck, weight box, some wheel weights and hood and fender pan off 418. It was a long haul but well worth it.

I am curious if anyone can help me understand the suburban's dash?? It has a key (see pics) i do not know if the is a 400 or otherwise. I would like to know if anyone has seen an electric start suburban?? The motor is not original . My other question is the rear hitch. Any help on what type/kind or what went on it would be great. Thanks. steve bo-

What did you do... knock off a bank on the way down?

Suburban looks good. I'll let others opine on the dash.

Steve, you should see the basket case RJ-58 I just got. It even has a bullet whole in the hood :notworthy:

NICE HAUL!!!

My guess would be that it is a 550 Suburban. Would have had a 5.5HP Lauson with electric and recoil start...

John,

Not sure yet. As you know when you first get it you are excited to keep it. If I sell/trade it, you will get first dibs... :notworthy:

Nice Suburban.

I could be wrong, but I thought both Suburban models used the fabricted hitch like the one on your 550? :notworthy:

I think I actually have one somewhere if thats the case...

The hitch on this suburban is an AH-60. It allowed you to have a drawbar for pulling without removing the deck lift from the slot hitch.

that could be a 400. my 400 has a hole for a key or switch in the same location.

Stevebo,

I think I see the slot hitch on the back of that suburban. I believe that is

the only hitch that came with it.

I just have to get me one of those black hoods. I have looked everywher for one and can't find one. I wish I was up there and take it off your hands. I am attending the Florida Flywheelers event in January. I hope to find one down there. Nice haul.

Steve, The hitch that is bolted to the transmission is used for pulling a trailer or other attachments with the mower deck on. The angle piece in the slot hitch is for raising the deck. Mike

Yes, you DO see a slot hitch, and it is the only hitch that came with this model as standard equipment.

BUT.... The mower deck lift on this model used the slot hitch, and that part is in the slot hitch on this one. The "extra" hitch on this one is the AH-60. As I posted above, and ol550 also pointed out, the AH-60 was an option that added drawbar capacity to the tractor while the mower deck was mounted.
