mowerman1193 42 #1 Posted December 2, 2009 I have a C145 Auto that the original 14hp K series needs a rebuild..I also have a 16hp K series that runs great..thought I might swap out the motor rather than rebuilding..Ran into a issue though..The 16hp has a different style oil pan and I don't think it will mount up to the Original style motor mounts..Is there a different oil pan I could look for to make this work or will another model Wheel Horse motor mount work..Maybe I will just post this motor for sale or swap someone that could use it the way it is? Any Ideas? I will see if I can get some pictures posted later to show what I am talking about
rickv1957 75 #2 Posted December 2, 2009 You should be able to remove iso mount plate and just bolt in the 16hp,as frame is already set up to make that swap, done it a few times myself,Rick
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #3 Posted December 2, 2009 You should be able to remove iso mount plate and just bolt in the 16hp but....... only if the 16hp engine is from a Wheel Horse. If it's not, you'll either need to drill & tap the two PTO side mounting holes or get a WH spec oil pan.
truckin88 104 #4 Posted December 2, 2009 don't you need a motor mount like, because of the pto rod??? http://cgi.ebay.com/Wheel-Horse-C-165-Moto...=item2c51f5ffab
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #5 Posted December 2, 2009 don't you need a motor mount like, because of the pto rod??? Not technically. The "L" shaped lower bracket (bolts on with the right mid-hitch plate) from a C series or 300/400 model (single cylinder) is all that's needed. Example (although this picture is of a B-80):
Kelly 1,033 #6 Posted December 3, 2009 Hey Mowerman, get with me I might have all the parts you need to do the swap, or might have a good engine to trade you, and I only live 10 miles or so from you, we really need to meet someday.
