Kelly 1,033 #1 Posted February 21, 2008 I have not had a pan off a short frame big block tractors ie. 1075, 1055 and 1045 and I know I missed one, but anyway do you know if JD used the same pan ? look at this one Item number: 270212173636 and let me know what you think ? I'd like to buy it if it was correct so I could build another short frame big block. because I can't find another one I can afford or is close by. thanks guys
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #2 Posted February 21, 2008 It looks like it would be alright -- except for the drain plug location. Edit: Never mind -- I guess they make a pipe plug that fits flush with the surface. Here's another one: Shallow sump for Kohler
Michcruiser60 0 #3 Posted February 21, 2008 I've been wanting to do the same thing. Oil pans seem to be killing me latley. Are the short frame pans differant on the big blocks? The mid-80's 10hp Kohler I've got has the square oil pan. And ran the V-blocks for mounting. Is there a differnant pan for it so it can be bolted on a short frame? Or do I need to find an old Kohler for this project? I don't mean to hi-jack here but just lookin for good info because it seems I'm in the same boat. Rollerman 290 #4 Posted February 21, 2008 Mich the short frame tractors (1045,1055,& 1075) with the K241's did have a differant oil pan so they sat a bit lower to clear the hood. I have a few here in my shop...I'll have to dig one out for pics? They also had some other unique parts...the lift lever had a differant bend to clear the starter generator. The drive belt guard on them is off set away from the engine too. I beleive TT mentioned them haveing a differant starter generator belt guard also....that was a new one on me...I'm still learning. Kelly 1,033 #5 Posted February 22, 2008 Stephen, Could you try to at least take a look at yours and see if it's like the one on ebay for me before it ends tonight? that one has the drain plug in the bottom but look like it has bosses in the ends if not holes. Would you sell me one of your spare pans? Also I think I found that no. we were looking for. Thanks Kelly
Kelly 1,033 #6 Posted February 22, 2008 The guy finally emailed back the bolt pattern is wrong. So I'm still looking.
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #7 Posted February 22, 2008 I just checked the P/N on that pan and it's 236265-S and is still available new for around $90.00. It was used on 11 different spec. numbers (2 are service engines) on the K-241 engines and 2 different spec. numbers on the K-301. (both are Arctic Enterprises Snowmobiles) (none of them are Cub Cadet, Case, JD, etc., and only 2 are Wheel Horse)
Kelly 1,033 #8 Posted February 22, 2008 Two Wheel horse's didn't they use them on three WH's? That pan would work if you drilled the frame. I crawled under my 1075 to check the pattern, didn't need to it was the same as the frame in my 552, but I wasn't sure.
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #9 Posted February 22, 2008 Two Wheel horse's didn't they use them on three WH's? Not two models, Kelly -- two spec. numbers. (46219 and 46323)

TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #11 Posted February 22, 2008 I beleive TT mentioned them haveing a differant starter generator belt guard also....that was a new one on me...I'm still learning. I had to verify that, so I looked that up too. The Kohler P/N for the S/G guard is 235529 for the "short pan" models. (1045, 1075, etc.) P/N 235528 is the guard for the "big pan" models. (1056, 1277, etc.)
Kelly 1,033 #12 Posted February 22, 2008 I also checked my 953 S/G belt guard with my 1075 yes very diff. I don't know if the newer ones are the same as my 953? Perry I'll get the measurements in a little bit.
Rollerman 290 #13 Posted February 22, 2008 Kelly I'm just now getting back on after seeing your question. It take a day to dig down to them. I thought I had one out where I could get to it...but there all buried at the bottom of my wall of Kohlers. I do have 2 short frame K241's...but are going into tractors..
baerpath 517 #14 Posted March 14, 2008 Kelly I finally dug it out, this is one I have from a 1055. It's one inch thick It might need a new gasket before you use it Duane
Kelly 1,033 #15 Posted March 14, 2008 I'm interested in it Duane get with me, and by the way I might be getting the 1045 if he can get it to the show, he said he's not going but will see if if someone else can take it. I've got my fingers crossed. Thanks again
