Thanks for the info Rick. Someone previously has butchered the wiring harness. I also need a transmission temp gauge. Someone replaced it with a water temp guage. The plastic face plate is also broke and partially missing around the Hydraulic lift area. I will get some pics and a list of needed items this weekend.

Thanks again.

Temperature gages do not really care what fluid they are measuring. I am using a Sunpro electric temp gage in my D200 seems to work OK. You do have to change out the sending unit so that it matches the gage. I was going to try a mechanical temp gage but the one I had (Napa) the sending unit wouldn't fit in the hydro pump (too long)

The temp gage on my D-180 doesn't really move. I am trying to determine if the fault is with the gage of the sending unit.

Does anybody know what the sending unit is? I wanna guess thermister. What about the gage? Does anybody know if it is a 0-12V or something other? I got my DMM and measured the voltage going to the gage, and it was about 4V. Seeing some type of stimulus and no response on the gage makes me lean towards a bad gage. But then again, there is a chance that the gage won't respond to the wrong signal.

Anybody got suggestions?

Paul - can you tell me which sunpro gage you have installed?

Currently, two of my three gages are sunpro's. I might as well make the third one a sunpro too. At least they will all match.

James

James: I bought 2 or three used gauges on Ebay...and a couple of sending units...none seemed to work correctly. One thing I did note (and is true with the sunpro) they are very sensitive to voltage. You get a reading while the engine is running (and charging system is working meaning you have about 14 volts) shut it down then immediately turn the switch back on and there is a difference in the reading (now back to battery voltage 12.6v)

The sunpro is the 2" electric temp gauge (the sending unit for th mechanical gauge is to long to fit in the pump head) I picked the white face gauge about $19 at Pep Boys.

Paul, is that to say that the sending unit for the sunpro gages fit into the hydro pump housing?

I know what you mean about the sensitivity to voltage. These are pretty much the bottom of the line in gages. You get what you pay for I suppose.

I find that my key switch is dirty, and I can change the voltage slightly on my voltmeter if I jiggle the key back and forth a little bit. Perhaps the temp change you are seeing is due to that? Just thought I'd throw that out as a possibility.

The sunpro electric sending unit will fit.

The WH gages I had also showed different reading engine on or switch on.

Excellent. Thanx Paul. I just ordered a CP7956 from ebay.
