Wheel Horse Paint

:notworthy:

I'm now thinking of using an Acrylic Urethane single-stage paint. Found one from Kirker called Flame Red. It crosses to GM #81, and is a near perfect match to my B-100's original color. I matched it to my NOS shift plate, and to the red under a decal on my dash, and under the decal on the side of my hood. Costs about $88 for a one gallon kit (paint & activator).

I'm using a 2-part gray epoxy primer.

We'll see how long it takes for me to change my mind again.

Thanks for the suggestion Gary. Kirker Flame Red urethane is very close to New Holland which I like too. However, Valspar New Holland Red is only available in an Alkyd Enamel. Alkyd's tend to fade and chalk over time. No UV protection. This is why I am going to use an Acrylic Urethane. Very tough finish, excellent UV protection and no chalking.

Just checking. Had the front of my Ford van painted with Urethane about a year ago. Seems to be holding up good.

Thanks for the input Rick. All info is appreciated.

Final questions for you. If you were painting a tractor today, what would you use?
