First year of bug eyes ??

Guys,

What was the first year and model tractor that the bug eye lights were on/offered? I would assume it should be an electric start model. Thanks-

1964 with the introduction of the HL-5 kit. They were not installed on any tractors by the factory that I know of, as they were an optional component which was normally installed by the dealer when the customer requested it (sort of like A/C was an option in cars in the early years). In 1964 they could be retrofitted back to the 1961 models (401, 551 701) which were installed with an electric start, or any later machine which had electric start.
