520 Front Axle

Recommended Posts

Just curious if all the 520 Front Axles have the swept forward design and 1" spindles?

Reason I ask is that I won the front axle and spindles off a 520H and they are not swept forward and the spindles ar 3/4". i just want to be sure before I contact the seller about the issue.

Thanks

They came both ways. I think the early 520's had the regular front axle.

Looks like you will be getting the earlier ones. The swept front usually had the heavier duty 1" axles.

Will only be able to go up to a 48" deck with the regular and with the swept front it can accomodate a 60" deck. Also with the swept front you will need an extension kit for the snow plow. They are still out there......just getting tougher to find.

Okay but why would you want to use a swept axle on the front ?

Duane,

Mostly I am just playing around with the parts that I have. I was going to use it on a short frame tractor and sweep the wheels forward with the axle flipped over to give it a hot rod look.

I don't think you can turn those axels over to use upside down because the spindles will be angled the wrong direction. I have an extra front axel from a 401 that has that dropped look you're going for.
