ISO-Mount Replacement

What's the solution to replacing the rubber engine cradle vibration-isolation mounts? [i'm working on my C-81]

Toro is out of their minds for what they want for them new.

I've worked on other garden tractor ISO-mount setups and lots of times it's just the lower mounts that need replacing. What's the trend for W-H? Same?

I'm sure this has been asked before, but what's the replacement part of choice? Old tire sidewall? =)

Re iso mounts- Find a cheapo store selling $1 rubber mallets. Slice or

saw discs from the rubber heads, say about 1/4" thick. With a sharpened

thin wall tube 1/2" dia. trepan a hole in the center of the discs. Obtain large

fender washers, 1-1/2x3/8x.060". Arrange rubber discs on either side of the

engine mounting iso plate. Obtain bushings 3/8" ID x 1/2" OD x 3/4" long.

The bushing will extend through the rubber discs and iso plate. The washers

will be the "bread" on either side of the sandwich described. This composite

structure may be glued for convenience of installation with contact cement.

Depending on the mallet, it may be necessary to reduce the diameter of the

discs.

Anyway, you get the general idea I hope. The dimensions are about right

but you may find variations to suit. I did this on my C-111.

You can repair rubber mounts if not too far gone with a liquid rubber material

called Welder available at Loew's.

If you know someone in the HVAC trade you could use the rubber mounts for AC compressors. I have also used cut up hockey pucks.
