bork 0 #1 Posted November 16, 2009 :notworthy: Are older WH better for collecting or models that fewer were made? or more horsepower & options? or all personal preference? & then if rare, hard to find parts?
Sparky-(Admin) 23,139 #2 Posted November 16, 2009 Obviously as they get older and people who dont know what they have trash them the value theoretically goes up as the tractor in question gets rarer and harder to come by. On the other hand some models were limited in production and even tho they are newer they have maintained some value. The 520-8 speed is one example as is the 420-LSE. Mike........ VinsRJ 723 #3 Posted November 16, 2009 I would build a collection around the ones you like most. Yes there are some units that are worth more dollars but in the end the collection will sit at your house. Wouldn't you want the examples you like best?
rickv1957 74 #4 Posted November 16, 2009 I think that about any model wheelhorse can be considered collectable or or even workable, personal preference means all,Rick
Indy w h 5 #5 Posted November 16, 2009 I'll agree personal preference is what I do. I enjoy the round hoods but I have some newer horses also. It's all on what turns ya on Indy

C-Series14 15 #7 Posted November 17, 2009 A C-195 would be a good one to find! I personally like the 1974 -1984 C-Series. They are built like a tank, they can use a variety of attachments, and they are worth the time it takes to restore them! Never really got into the older ones, I do have an RJ-59 which I need to restore!

whfan74 2,071 #9 Posted November 17, 2009 I echo what has been said already. Everyone has their personal preference on what they like. Take some time in the photo gallery, find an eye catcher, and let the hunt begin! :notworthy:
CasualObserver 3,411 #10 Posted November 17, 2009 Ditto to what has already been said. My only addition would be that perhaps you (and others) might want to check out some of these older threads about the who/what/when/why and how of the collectors collections of tractors whose owners make up this forum! These are a few GREAT topics from the past. Feel free to add to any or all of them and bring them back to the top. Confessions of a Wheel Horse Owner Does your collection have a theme?
