MRM 4 #1 Posted November 16, 2009 After reading the post about roller chain on the front I figured i would give it a try instead of useing standard tire chains, This is what i ended up with. It rides and steers much nicer than tire chains.

rickv1957 74 #3 Posted November 16, 2009 Mike, like them chains, they look like they will help steering in the snow,Rick
Sparky-(Admin) 23,138 #4 Posted November 16, 2009 I wonder what type of chain marks those will leave on the asphalt? They look like they will work great but I'm not sure I want chain marks all over my driveway. Let us know after you have used them how they work out. Mike........ bork 0 #5 Posted November 16, 2009 How much air? Looks like they are to big & would slip off easily?
Coadster32 793 #6 Posted November 16, 2009 Did you deflate the tire, put the chains on, and then reinflate the tire? I haven't done it, but I thought that the tire wraps around the chain a little. :notworthy:
can whlvr 994 #7 Posted November 16, 2009 i have them on a few of my machines, yes deflate the tire fit the chain and inflate, never had one come off,and i think it would be hard on asphalt.
Rollerman 290 #8 Posted November 16, 2009 I run that setup on my plowing tractor too. I don't notice any marks on the concrete or asphalt....but it will sling the gravel if it's not froze yet. Or cut the lawn up a bit if you have to push snow out across the lawn & turn to agressive.

MRM 4 #12 Posted November 16, 2009 Yes i deflate the tires and sized the chains so they were a snug fit and then blew up the tires to about 12psi i think, my gauge dosn't work to well . Idrove it around in 3rd gear turning the wheel as sharp and fast as i could on the dirt driveway and they did not move at all. The tractor is a B-100 with 16x5.50-8 tires. The hitch on the plow is something i made to lock the blade in the raised position so i can use the slot hitch with out removing the plow it it works well. whfan74 2,071 #16 Posted November 17, 2009 That sure does sound interesting. I have been reluctant to try any sort of chain on mine due to the concrete driveway. Let me know how it works........would hate to be kicking myself come spring time.
MRM 4 #17 Posted November 18, 2009 The only part of th 1/4mi long driveway that has blacktop is in front of the gararge so i dont have to worry about any marks.
