Snowblower chain single stage

Put the tire chains and wheel weights on today, the cab will go on tomorrow. I also lubed the bearings and was going to adjust the chain.

I noticed that the bottom adjustable sproket is at its limit. The chain rubs against itself as it travels off the large sprocket and contacts itself coming around the adjustable sprocket.

Normal? Or do I need to take a link out?

Assuming it is threaded correctly the chain should not touch itself...way too loose. You can remove a whole link....if that makes it too tight you can purchase half links for it at any good hardware store...#40 chain.

Keep in mind, removing one link is probably fine, but when you remove links to compensate for a stretched chain, using that stretched chain is going to wear your sprokets. In the long run, it's cheaper to just replace with new chain.
